Wrapping paper is generally impersonal. Even if you are not in attendance when the gift is opened, this paper lets you say ‘Surprise!’ whilst simultaneously empathising with their dread of a dull present.
The exterior side of the paper displays an image of the giver, the facial expression portraying bored expectations of another useless present. Once opened, the gift is revealed along with an image of the prescribed excitement one is expected to display. A sarcastic tone can be achieved through gift selection, for example, a banana.

Once in a blue moon the stars and planets align in such a way that a given project turns into an unforgettable experience. One that pushes and teaches the people involved through tears and sweat, long nights and head to wall pounding.
“This project came to fruit only because of a great client, a crazy designer and a very willing printer. The client’s clothing label is a new startup and he’s vision was to impress fashion buyers in Europe. He kept pushing us (the designer and the printer) to propose all kinds of finishings to him and he inspired us with his fashion vernacular and the kinds of finishings, textures available to him when purchasing leathers and materials. He was a very tough client to please but now, I have learnt to appreciate him as one of the best clients I have.”
“Technically, this project is very feasible and not difficult to replicate but in Singapore, there is not more than four printers who would be willing to accept this project or would be able to achieve it. I believe the printer had absorbed about 20% of the actual production costs to match the client’s budget and even had to hire a part-timer for a day to spray paint all the booklets. I’m very thankful for this opportunity and I just hope he’s venture works out and we get to do another crazy lookbook this year.”
Taking risks when working out of our comfort zone, and with materials and situations we are not familiar with can be tricky. Such as reversing the binding so that it is exposed and open to a blast of black spray paint coming from all sides. But more often than not, the results exceed our expectations and leave us satisfied with the experience and willing to try something else.

“Al Fresco is a gelato and bistro establishment. Hand crafted ice cream and detailed attention in your food preparation from pizzas elaborated in a wood oven to paninis and sandwiches with the finest ingredients. High quality products at affordable prices in a kind and family oriented place.
Our work consisted in interpreting the company business plan, transmitting the message of a committed to deliver excellent quality foods brand maintaining affordable prices. To communicate the established values, a hand-crafted illustration language was developed. This language was based on light laid traces achieving value accentuation on the kindness of the brand. The aesthetic counterpoint of elegant tones, sepia and golden colors was manipulated to help and allow the quality inherent to the foods to stand out.
It was very important to allow the brand to have a sufficiently elastic language to expand it to other areas. Even though the restaurant has not been open for a long time, it has become a reference for other gelato establishments around the city.”
